THE LAW IS NOT OF FAITH
Brothers and Sisters,
Sadly, most churches today teach a law and grace mixture for christian daily living. Not realizing that the law revives sin within the one who is under the law, and kills them (see Romans 7: 7-12), as the letter does. It is The Spirit that brings life, and by Him, we believers walk, live, mature and grow in righteous living and denial of ungodly ways, as the grace of God teaches us (see Titus 2: 11-12), not the law.
Within general evangelical culture, there is a lack of focus on The New Covenant established by Jesus. But this should be at the center of every church message and every gospel conversation. Because the way we view scripture and walk in alignment with the Word is completely transformed when we understand that there is a before and after the Cross. And they are black and white different. Same God, not the same covenant.
The New Covenant is the new and only way to become the righteousness God requires to be saved, by grace through faith in the Gospel: the death, burial and resurrection of Jesus.
The New Covenant does not begin at Matthew 1:1. It begins when Jesus dies for us (see Hebrews 9:16). The page in your Bible after Malachi 4 titled "The New Testament" was placed there by man publishers. The death of the testator doesn't happen until much later in the gospels. Which means that much of what we read in the beginning of the gospels is within an Old Covenant, Law context, and should be interpreted as such. Yes, Jesus taught Law to Law abiding Israelites. He taught the true standard of the Law, showing them they were dead, and in need of a Savior.
The New Covenant replaced the Old, and made it obsolete (see Hebrews 8:13)
Saints, we know that without faith it is impossible to please God (see Hebrews 11:6) and the just shall live by faith (see Romans 1:17; Habakkuk 2:4), and yet here is a remarkable statement by the Apostle Paul:
"However, the Law is not of faith..."
Galatians 3:12 - New American Standard Bible
To walk by faith is to walk under grace and not under law.
So Child of God, be encouraged today. You are no longer under the condemnation of the Law nor do you have to measure your performance by old testament commands to see if God is pleased with you. You live under the New Covenant of grace, through which you have become the righteousness of God in Christ Jesus.
By faith, you have been made a saint, completely forgiven of your sins, holy, righteous, blameless, with a new heart that loves God, because He first loved you.
JESUS DID IT
Galatians 3: 11-12
New King James Version
11 But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” 12 Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.”
