On April of 2016, I experienced a life threatening event. I suffered a stroke at the age of 27. One moment I was perfectly healthy, and suddenly I began to go through different symptoms, progressively getting worse until I lost my ability to think straight and keep my balance.
The enemy’s plan was “to steal, kill and destroy” me (John 10:10), and I believe part of the reason he had access to my life is because I opened the door through sin. So I am here to ask you not to open that door… and if you have, please close it now. Do not wait… do it quickly before more damage is done. Please know that short term sinful pleasure is not worth the long term consequences.
In those days I considered myself a Christ follower, but I thought obedience was not that important. I was blind. I couldn’t see Jesus’ words in John 14:15 “If you love me, you will keep my commandments’’. But even then, God’s hand remained on me and carried me through the darkest valley of my life, which is why I must testify that he is a good Father, his love is steadfast and his mercy abundant. So if you find yourself in a dark place today, whatever the struggle may be (literally anything), rest assured that everyone who calls on the name of The Lord will be saved (Romans 10:13). He will meet you with open arms in your moment of greatest need if you surrender to his perfect love. I promise.
When I finally understood the beginning parable in Luke 15, where Jesus talks about a sheep walking away from the shepherd, I realized something: that sheep was me. And I believe this resonates with many of you.
I walked away from God... but I know now that His relentless pursuit for me never stopped. He left the ninety-nine to find the one, the lost one. And suddenly I heard His voice calling me, and I followed it until He saw me and embraced me unlike anyone ever had before. In the midst of my brokenness and shame He revealed to me his love. Then I understood that I was no longer lost but found.
That is the story of The Found Sheep. God continues to call many of you, waiting each day for your return. On that day there will be much joy in heaven, for the lost one will be home in glory. Amen.
